ACTIVITY REPORT - 22ND NOVEMBER 2006- 14TH NOVEMBER 2007

The following is a brief general report of the main activities carried out by since our last meeting on the 18th July 2007 and includes microchip figures for that period as well as those over the past year since our last AGM.

There was only one case of cruelty reported to us since our last meeting

A report was received to the effect that a black /white and brown male dog was loose in the Half Tree Hollow area and was very thin and generally in bad shape. It was not wearing a Collar. The dog belonged to a resident of HTH and the matter was reported to Police for investigation. That investigation as far as I am aware is still ongoing.

There have been a few cases of animals (Goats, Dogs and Chickens) being a nuisance. In these cases where no actual cruelty took place and no cruelty was suspected the relevant persons were told to report the matter to Police.

Since our last meeting in July 2007, five dogs and one cat have been micro- chipped

53 Dogs were Micro chipped for year between 22.11. 06 – 14 .11.07
21 of which were females and 32 males
4 cats were micro-chipped during the same period. 3 of which were females.

ACTIVITY REPORT - COMMITTEE MEETING - 13TH FEBRUARY 2008

The last meeting of this Society was in November 2008. Since that meeting to date there have been very few cases dealt with due to the busy time of year.
The few cases reported have mostly been goats causing an annoyance as their owners have neglected to secure them properly. Advice on best way to deal with this was given. In some instances, the aggrieved persons preferred to report the matter to Police for investigation rather than approach the responsible person themselves. Mainly this occurred in the St Pauls area.
Also in St Paul’s area there was a case of a dog being left alone on premises by itself which resulted in the dog howling and annoying neighbours. It was fed and watered and was in good health just Lonely. The owners of the dog had left St Helena. Those looking after the dog were told to remove the dog to their residence and the problem seems to have been solved.
Another case of a sheep being killed by dogs was reported and advice was given to report the matter to Police, which was done.

MICROCHIPPING

18 dogs and two cats have been micro-chipped since our last meeting. Still outstanding are seven dogs and one cat which hopefully will be dealt with over the next week.
Thanks to Kerry Sim from A&NRD who has been a great help in two cases whereby a dog had to be micro-chipped and proved an unwilling candidate! With the assistance of Kerry the said animals were temporarily drugged in order for the procedure to go ahead without stressing the dog unduly.
